Night Time in D.C.
I just got back to my hotel in downtown D.C. after taking pictures inside the Lincoln Memorial right after sunset, which I haven’t seen in quite awhile. Standing near the Washington Monument still freaks me out, just like it did when I was little, and I finally got to see the Vietnam Memorial after years of waiting. Even in the dark it was absolutely amazing, and… oh, I’m sorry! I didn’t preface my story of national capital sightseeing with any reference whatsoever.
Why am I even here? Well, I have been given the opportunity to perform an internship from January through March, 2008 with Social Technologies, a first-class futurist firm located in the Dupont Circle area of Washington. As I write, I have just finished attending their three day winter staff meetings, and this gave me the chance to see their entire team in action. I am extremely grateful to the S)T staff (thank you Tom Conger, Christopher Kent, and Chris Carbone!) for all they have done for me this past week, and I look forward to learning all of the “ends and outs” of life in the futurist lane.
So how did I get such a wonderful opportunity, as well as the chance to read the Gettysburg Address on the wall of the Lincoln Memorial in person? Well, I also just began my Culminating Experience in the Masters of Strategic Foresight program at Regent University. (This is my last semester, and graduation takes place May 9th and 10th in Virginia Beach!) Would you like to pursue a career in foresight, or integrate “future-ready” skills in your present organization? Click here to find out more about this powerful graduate degree program at Regent Univeristy, and you might find yourself in the city of Jefferson , Franklin, and Madison as well!
